A Research residency, by invitation.
ABOUT
The Dreamers Residency Program is an invitation-based artist residency developed by The Dreamers Gallery, an independent contemporary art institution in Presidio, Texas.
The residency provides artists with time, studio space, and an environment dedicated to research, artistic practice, and sustained dialogue. Rather than following a fixed calendar or annual cycle, each residency is developed individually in response to the invited artist’s practice.
The program is founded on the belief that meaningful artistic work develops through time, trust, and conversation. Residencies are approached not as isolated events, but as the beginning of long-term relationships between the artist and the institution.
Residencies may lead to future exhibitions, publications, or other collaborative projects. These opportunities evolve naturally through the work undertaken during the residency and are never predetermined.
2–8 weeks, determined individually according to the artist and the nature of the residency.
DURATION
Residents are accommodated at Las Sombras, a thoughtfully restored 1954 structure in the heart of Presidio. Designed as a place for reflection and concentration, the property includes a private suite, walled garden, outdoor kitchen, shaded seating areas, and a small dipping pool. Its architecture and outdoor spaces encourage a slower rhythm of living, shaped by the landscape and climate of the Chihuahuan Desert.
ACCOMMODATION
Artists work either within a dedicated studio at The Dreamers Gallery or outdoors at Las Sombras, depending on the needs of their practice. Both environments offer quiet, privacy, and the distinctive light and openness of the surrounding desert, allowing artists to develop their work without interruption.
STUDIO
INVITATION
The Residency Program operates by invitation only.
The Dreamers Gallery does not maintain an open application process. Artists are invited following ongoing curatorial research, studio visits, exhibitions, conversations, or recommendations.
Those wishing to introduce their work to the Gallery are welcome to make contact. While all correspondence is carefully considered, unsolicited submissions do not constitute an application, and invitations are extended solely at the Gallery’s discretion.
